Why Astrology
It’s my month- the month of Capricorn, an earth sign ruled by Saturn, and no better time than now to talk about myself. Some descriptions of my personality type are ‘serious’ and ‘no-nonsense’… pretty accurate. Our compassion and good intentions as Capricorns, keep us ever working harder, and we disdain social injustice. On the negative side, we can tend to try to be a bit controlling. I, for one Capricorn, am not very trusting.
Capricorns are considered the powerhouse of the zodiac. Yes, we stand out in a crowd, and no, we are anything but boring. What is real is what is relevant to us. We get along with Taurus, Virgo, Gemini, Pisces and Cancer. (Aries are to self involved for a Capricorn to be interested in because our nature is to care about the well being of others – which Aries and Leo do not do). Capricorns are leaders and not easily duped into the schemes of others- we tend to see true intentions even when someone is trying to hide them. A Capricorn woman has been described as an alpha female, a flirt, with a good sense of humor, and an upholder of tradition.
Some of the virtues of us Capricorns include patience, organization, sense of duty, ability to see and persevere over the long term. On the flip side, we can be materialistic, pessimistic, and conservative.
My colors, as a Capricorn, are dark green and dark browns. My best sign for marriage is Cancer, and I am married to a Cancer. Lucky numbers for Capricorns are 2 and 8. I am ready an 8, as I was born on the 17th (1 plus 7 make 8). Our birthstone is Garnet.
Why astrology? Your astrological chart is the treasure map to your soul, symbolic of your soul’s evolutionary purpose – who you are and why you are here, as per Carl Jung. He also said
“We are born at a given moment in a given place and like vintage years of wine we have the qualities of the year and of the season in which we are born. Astrology does not lay claim to anything else”.
The astrological chart brings into focus, a highly accurate summary of the traits that make you, you, including some of your history as well. If you are honest and can see yourself in your chart, you can then identify what you may specifically need to develop, as the person you want to be- it is enormously helpful to recognize yourself. And further, knowing the traits of your mate, family, friends, or whoever, brings awareness and sensitivity into all your relationships.
