The Measure Of A Man
I’m going off track a little bit today and want to talk about what yardstick we use to measure the success of ourselves and others. Many use the almighty dollar as their yardstick, and if that were the only way to measure, I’d surely come up short. It has been said that a successful man goes through life jumping from one failure to the next, without losing enthusiasm. I’d rather get a high rating for my failures then a low one because of my finances, and I like these ideas too;
Measure a man by what he does with power, how he handles adversity,
his capacity to give and expect nothing back, or his ability to turn a predicament into an achievement.
The measure of a man is not what he gained, but what he gave, and the ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy (Martin Luther King). Well said Martin.
