The Terror Of The Ringing Telephone

Nothing used to agitate me more than a ringing phone. It could be my cell or land line, no matter- it always caused a tightening in my stomach and quickening of breath. No one knows this feeling/reaction like Kay and Carol and myself. A call could represent one of our beloved kids being hurt or in jail, or God forbid worse.

I never found a way to dispel the dread I felt at each ding-a-ling-a-ling. Outside of changing the ring tones on my cell phone from trauma to trauma, I just sucked it up determining it was low on the totem poll of issues but none-the-less bothersome.

The phone rang several times today, and I noticed that I was considerably less fearful when it rang, than my usual self. Could it be that a straight month without drama or trauma could be changing the cue of the ringing phone?

Today I got the best call ever- the phone rang, ding-a-ling-a-ling “Hi Madeleine, it’s Mom… just visited Alison and I have nothing but good things to say…To Carol and Kay, I hope you get the phone calls you are looking for.

    I know that feeling well. With my wife’s seizures I never know what will greet me on the phone, or even a text. many times the texts are gibberish which means I need to call home and see if it’s just a problem with making sense of letters but otherwise fine, or if she’s really doing back and needs help. Thankfully things are getting better. I’m even starting to sleep better overall instead of constantly on guard for a seizure. I’m glad you’re getting some relief.

      We all are sharing the same experiences in one way or another! I never know who is going to connect to what but happy to see you still find some value in my stories

        in my work I help people from all walks of life. Having never experienced addiction (or the use of substances at all) I learn from reading other people’s stories. And one of these days I’ll do more study into what you do because it’s interesting but still confusing. lol Right now I’m learning through osmosis. 😉

          About addiction- praise God for passing over you on that one! Reading is the #1 way my husband and I know what we know and do what we do, and we are both still novices. Once you “get it” you’ll be able to gobble it up. Best to start with 1 thing, say, pendulum and here is a good place to learn;

          Thanks! Right now I’m so busy with everything else it’ll be on my todo list. But, I like something that makes it easier to bypass my brain. It also can incorporate crystals which I have an affinity for. Just need the time to work on it.
